Breadloaf Wilderness

What a beautiful morning to visit Aunt Pam and Uncle Story at Breadloaf.

Max loved playing with rocks at the Middlebury River and Chase pretended he was catching fish (single-tracked mind).

A short hike home led to a picnic lunch and some baseball on the green.  Yay for the end of summer!  And, double yay for three-day work weeks that allow for such mid-week adventures!

Po Visits

We were said to say good-bye to Daddy and Grandy and Anna and Jon at the end of the weekend but we sure were glad that Uncle Po came down to distract us (he really came for a concert).  We celebrated with some baseball at South Beach.

Max has turned into a beach bum - he doesn't even bother wearing suits anymore.  This diaper came off immediately too.

Grandy's House

Just continuing the vacation fun at Grandy's house...Fuller Street beach and the local playground are pretty great when you are three-years-old.

Cape Pogue

After Mitoi, we kept going to see Cape Pogue.  It was a pretty and quiet night which made the beach seem almost magical.

Chappy

We took our car over on the Chappy ferry which was a huge hit for the boys.

Our first stop including exploration and relaxation at the Japanese garden, Mitoi.

Chase, in particular, loved all the little pathways and special "forts".

MV Agricultural Fair

The highlight of the Ag Fair this year was probably when Chase was called into the "frisbee dogs" ring to throw for the border collies.  But, I did not get that on camera.  So, a close second (for Max at least), was the ride on a merry-go-round.  Yay Max!

Clam Bake

Chase and Max went to their first clam bake this evening.  We arrived early so that we could swim at the beach at dusk.

Then, we moved on to the enormous amount of eating that we had to do.

After the dinner, there was a raffle to see who got to bring the leftover lobsters home.  Chase's number was the first to be called.  He was incredulous that he won.  But, he decided to share his lobster between himself, Max, Grandy, Dave and me.  Thanks Chase!

"Crab Olympics"

At Owen Park this afternoon, Chase made friends with a group of people who had caught 25 spider crabs.  They brought them all ashore and planned to have a "Crab Olympics".  We all took bets on which crab would be the first to make it back to the water.

After Max realized that his crab was losing, he decided to help it out a bit.  This kid has no fear.

Beside spider crabs, the other thing that I liked a lot at the beach was this toddler who wore her life jacket as butt floss.
