Extended Weekend

My grandfather used to say that the two best things about teaching were July and August.  Now, I know what he was talking about.  Having the summer off to hang with Chase and Max is turning out to be a crazy, goofy, silly, super-fun, and slightly-exhausting extended holiday.  We came down to the NY/NJ area to see family and next week are headed to Lake Buel in Mass.  I'm glad that I made the decision to only go back three-days-a-week next year....otherwise, the summer would feel too short.  I cannot believe it is already almost July.

Today, we went to an aviary.  Chase and Max both got the hang of bird-catching.

Busy Day 3

On Aska's 3rd day, we decided we were busy enough.  So, I asked a neighbor to come watch the boys (see pics of how I found them when I got home) while we went to get pedicures!

Busy Day 2

On our second busy day, I accompanied Chase's friends to a visit to the Museum of Geology while Aska took Max to the Burlington Tennis Club.

Chase also got in some Aska snuggle time before we went swimming.  Recently, I read that swimming pools are really public toilet bowls - yuck!

We ended this day with a post-nap walk to Breakwaters for cool drinks and sweet potato fries.

Busy Day 1

Aska's visit to VT has prompted some very busy days for our family.  On Monday, we went to the Shelburne Museum and rode the carousel.

Then, we explored the Ticonderoga steamship, the rocketship displays, the general store and apothecary.  Aska also got Chase and Max to pose for cute pictures.

We capped off the day with a wagon ride to the corner store for the first cremees of the season.

Fathers Day

We headed to Shelburne Farms for Fathers Day (after Dave slept in till 9 and the boys and I made him breakfast).

First, we checked out the animals.

Then, Chase milked a cow.

Next, we met up with friends and hiked to Lone Tree Hill.

And, we all posed with Dave for a Fathers Day memory.

Celebrate Summer and Par-tay.

We had about 60 people over yesterday (including little people) for a pot-luck BBQ.  Dave and I provided pulled pork, brisket, chicken and hotdogs and friends brought some Southern sides.

Max and I both have a habit of making not-so-cute faces when we are actually very happy.  Above, I am eating a heavenly pulled pork and cole slaw sandwich.  Below, Max is having a blast in the sprinkler.

Water features, bubble machines, beautiful weather, great food and friends - it was a pretty perfect Saturday.

BTC

We joined the Burlington Tennis Club this season.  There is a great pool, place to grille, and fun playground.  The other evening, we went by after work for a BBQ and some PG fun!
